Sharif was displaced to A’zaz in northern Aleppo and lived in a camp for seven years. He is still not able to return to his hometown As-Safira, also in Aleppo, because it was damaged during war. Syria is entering a new chapter with a new Government and despite the very difficult circumstances he face, Sharif embodies resilience: “I feel joy as this is the first Eid Al-Fitr in a long time when we can move freely without constraints or fear”.
