Strengthen monitoring and regular analysis of the situation of vulnerability to food insecurity and early actions

Ensure adequate food consumption and emergency protection/restoration of the livelihoods of households affected by shocks and experiencing severe food insecurity

Support actions to restore and strengthen the resilience of the livelihoods of vulnerable households to severe food insecurity through early recovery and anticipation interventions to mitigate the impact of possible shocks/hazards
Cluster Activities
1
Ensure better access to healthy and diversified food and nutrients and agricultural inputs through unconditional food assistance in cash or food and access for producers to agricultural inputs, veterinary kits, livestock feed, etc.

Strengthen the resilience of livelihoods through conditional assistance in cash or food, support in diversifying sources of income as well as interventions to preserve/restore the environment and conserve natural resources (water and soil).

Ensure efficient coordination of the implementation of the response, its planning and monitoring-evaluation including monitoring and regular analysis of the situation of vulnerability to food insecurity, in particular post-shock/hazard assessments, IPC analysis , market monitoring, production of alert bulletins and food safety monitoring.

Favor synergies and multisectoral complementarity with the different activities of the sector and other sectors such as nutrition, WASH, protection, education (including emergency canteens), and health (vaccination campaign) in order to better strengthen anticipatory actions, and the humanitarian-peace-development nexus approach.

Establish and strengthen maritime fishing and freshwater aquaculture activities as alternative activities in the Greater South-East.

Improve the availability and accessibility of seeds and planting materials of quality and high nutritional value for the benefit of 80,000 vulnerable households in districts classified in phase 2 of the IPC and districts in phase 3 of the IPC with at least 40 % of population in humanitarian phase.

Diversify sources of income through support for sustainable and nutrition-sensitive value chains prioritizing groups of women and youth: training/supervision, production, storage, processing, marketing for households in districts classified in phase 2 , districts in phase 3 having at least 40% of population in the humanitarian phase

Disseminate early warning messages on drought and assist the population through conditional cash transfers, distribution of seeds and training on cultivation techniques and the creation of community assets.

Support for the relaunch of agricultural activities through the provision of innovative inputs and materials adapted to the local context and the establishment of rational water management systems
