Cluster Objectives

Immediate response: Maintain a gender-sensitive WASH response in areas classified as nutritional emergency for households with malnourished children under 5 years old.

Immediate response: Ensure that households living in areas classified as nutritional emergency and nutritional alert will have access to affordable drinking water, sanitation and hygiene.

Anticipatory action: Carry out anticipatory actions aimed at informing other sectors by supporting their joint efforts.
Cluster Activities
1
Distribution of 45,200 WASH kits in the Great South and 17,600 kits in the Great South-East at household level in affected areas and SAM child treatment centers.

Hygiene promotion at SAM child care centers located in areas classified as nutritional emergency: all targeted people adopt good hygiene practices

Households with SAM children will have access to dignified and secure sanitation infrastructure through the construction of 50 institutional latrines/sanitary blocks and waste management and vector control at the CSB level.

Hygiene promotion for people affected by emergency situations

Distribution of WASH kits at the institutional level (schools and health centers): 1,500 institutions in the Great South and 225 in the South East.

Installation of 100 family latrines and waste management and vector controls at the CSB level.

Rehabilitation of 50 toilets in health centers in affected areas, including 15 in the Great South-East and 35 in the Great South.

Maintain the functional early warning system to monitor existing groundwater in the Great South and Great South East; These early warnings will make it possible to reduce or even avoid loss of life and economic losses and to provide decision-makers with the ability to take preventive measures.

Produces regular bulletins to interpret the drought trend.
